Do your research. Every model is different. Know the common problems and what to look for. Chances are you will find some sort of defect as a basis to negotiate a lower price. For instance, I had someone email me about choosing between a 2006 325i and a 2007 328i. He was convinced that, because the 2007 model had less miles and the prices were about the same, the 2007 was obviously the right choice. Wrong! I presented him with a few informative links and some background information. On these particular models, the condition is a lot more important than the miles. Head issues are common and it’s important to service the cooling system. This stuff isn’t cheap and that’s why people avoid it.
